Numerous industries such as oil and gas refining and processing, fueling stations, fleet wash operations and industrial facilities contain varying amounts of oils, petroleum products and grease that must be separated from water streams for reuse or disposal before continued treatment or reuse of the water. This process of separating the non-aqueous phase liquid from the water if not done correctly can lead to increased maintenance costs, increased water treatment costs and possible regulatory action if FOG limits are exceeded in the discharge from the plant. Wastewater Technologies has significant experience in separating the dense and light oil products from water in numerous industries and applications.
The Wastewater Technologies OWS Oil-Water Separator can handle oily water from 2 – 600 GPM in a single tank and custom designs for higher flows in concrete installations. The design is based upon the industry’s favored slant rib coalescing design and is the separator most often specified because of its compactness, reliability and throughput. The OWS removes free, non-emulsified oil and settleable solids to produce an effluent with 10 mg/l of oil droplets 20 micron or larger with the standard media pack. The effluent can be furthered polished with the optional foam media packs.
